The Greater Southern Peripheral Road (Greater SPR) project, a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at decongesting Gurugram and providing alternative connectivity, is set to accelerate. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) has announced a definitive timeline for land acquisition for both phases of the project.

Land Acquisition Timeline

During a review meeting held on Tuesday at the GMDA office in Sector-44, HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh confirmed the following schedule:

Phase 1: Land acquisition for the first phase will be completed within the next four to five months. The Section 6 notification was already issued in November, and compensation will be distributed to farmers within the stipulated timeframe.

Phase 2: The Section 6 notification for land acquisition for the second phase is scheduled to be issued by February 2026.

Project Scope And Impact

The Greater SPR is designed to link major arterial roads, significantly reducing traffic pressure within the city.

Phase 1 (Gurugram-Faridabad Road to Sohna Road): Involves the acquisition of 276 acres across six villages: Bahrampur, Ullawas, Kadarpur, Maidawas, Ghamaspur and Badshahpur.

Phase 2 (Sohna Road to Delhi-Jaipur Highway): Proposes the acquisition of approximately 394 acres across eight villages: Aklimpur, Tikli, Sakatpur, Shikohpur, Naurangpur, Barh Gujjar, Manesar, and Nainwal.

Directives On Elevated SPR And Road Delays

The review meeting was chaired by DS Dhesi, Principal Advisor for Urban Development, who issued specific instructions regarding other key infrastructure projects:

Elevated SPR: DS Dhesi instructed officials to finalise the plan for the elevated SPR immediately. The project is to be executed in two phases:

  • Construction of the elevated road.
  • Development of a cloverleaf interchange at Vatika Chowk.

Sector Roads: The Principal Advisor expressed strong displeasure over the delay in constructing the main roads of Sector-27-28 (Galleria Road) and Sector-28-43 (Vyapar Kendra Road). Noting that these should have been completed a year ago, he directed that work be accelerated immediately.

Gwal Pahari: Officials reported that water supply to developed residential societies will be established by next year.

Sohna: Authorities indicated that ensuring adequate water supply in the Sohna area will require more time.
