A survey conducted by the Income Tax Department at the Manesar tehsil (sub-district office) has uncovered a major irregularity, PAN cards were not attached to property registries conducted over the past five years. The investigation, which lasted for about ten days, revealed that land registries worth approximately Rs 2,800 crore are under scrutiny.
According to regulations, it is mandatory for both the buyer and the seller to submit their PAN card for any property registry valued at more than Rs 30 lakh. The Income Tax Department must also be informed of such transactions in writing. However, the survey found that in the Manesar tehsil, not only were PAN cards missing from the documents, but the transactions were also not reported to the IT Department.
This is not the first time the Manesar tehsil has been in the news for such issues. Revelations concerning registry irregularities have surfaced here several times before, and the high-profile case involving 912 acres of land also originated from this office. The latest discovery has reportedly caused a commotion among the tehsil staff.

A previous investigation into registries at the Manesar tehsil, conducted by the Deputy Commissioner, had also revealed several irregularities that are still under investigation. The Income Tax Department has been looking into similar complaints in other tehsils as well, having conducted an investigation in the Kadipur tehsil two years ago and in the Wazirabad sub-tehsil this past June.
