Angered by a controversial social media post targeting key opposition leaders, including SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) staged a protest at the Sector 24 police station on Thursday afternoon. The workers expressed strong displeasure over the perceived lack of police action against the individual responsible for the post.
The protest, led by the party's city president, concluded after a memorandum was submitted to a police officer, who assured them that the accused had been apprehended.
The controversial post was made from a social media account named "Manav Jogi Noida." It depicted Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav, and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as demons . In contrast, the post also featured a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi making an offering in a havan, with a caption stating, "whenever religion is established, the demons are troubled."
The SP's Noida city president, Dr Ashray Gupta, had previously raised a strong objection to the post on X , demanding that a case be registered against the accused by tagging senior police officials. He stated that despite these demands, no arrest had been made, which fueled the anger among party workers.
