The Gurugram traffic police have intensified efforts to reduce heavy congestion near Ambience Mall and Shankar Chowk, which commuters face daily while entering Gurugram from Delhi. The situation is particularly severe during mornings and evenings, with vehicles often stuck for long periods.
To tackle the problem, DCP Traffic Dr Rajesh Mohan recently held a meeting with Ambience Mall officials to coordinate traffic management. Signboards will soon guide drivers approaching the mall from Delhi to stay in the left lane from Sirhaul Border, ensuring smoother entry without obstructing other vehicles.
Currently, 50 barricades have been installed along the stretch from Sirhaul Border to Ambience Mall, approaching Shankar Chowk, to help drivers align properly in advance. Plans are in place to install over 100 barricades for further improvement.
Additional Measures Include:
-Vehicle entry to Downtown near Ambience Mall will be directed from the left and exit from the right to prevent main-road congestion.
-The unpaved area on NH-48 near Ambience Mall will be levelled with gravel and tar to facilitate smooth traffic.
-Correspondence with the NHAI is underway to shift the divider on NH-48 toward the flyover near Sirhaul Border, widening the road leading to the mall.
-About 90 per cent of the subway from Cyber City to Udyog Vihar at Shankar Chowk has been completed. Once operational, it will provide a safe crossing for pedestrians and reduce traffic stoppages caused by people crossing at risky points, significantly easing congestion in the area.

Several new road cuttings have also been opened, further improving traffic flow.
“The traffic police are actively working to reduce congestion near Ambience Mall and Shankar Chowk. Some changes have already been implemented, with more measures planned. The subway at Shankar Chowk will also greatly improve the traffic situation,” said Dr Rajesh Mohan, DCP Traffic.
