Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is soon likely to extend the Yellow Line services to Attibele, and the authority has reportedly already sent the proposal to the central government. While providing details, Anekal MLA B Shivanna stated that the Karnataka government has already given the permission for the extension, adding that the BMRCL is waiting for the approval from the central government. Shivanna further stated that the expansion of services will provide convenience to thousands of commuters by cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion. Apart from this, the expansion will also boost the financial activities in Attibele and will lead to job creations.

While providing details, Shivanna stated that there are five industrial areas in Anekal taluk and thousands of people commute here every day. He further stated that while expansion work is already underway up to Gottigere on the Bannerghatta route, the authority is planning to extend it to the National Park, Bannerghatta, Jigani, and Anekal. He further stated that metro stations may be built along the route at Chandapura Market, Chandapura, Ramana Maharshi Ashram, Neralur, Yadavanahalli, Attibele, and Attibele Toll.

Earlier on September 10, the BMRCL revised the timings and frequency of the metro train services on the Yellow Line. The authority stated that the Yellow Line will start operations 30 minutes earlier at 6:00 AM. The Namma Metro Yellow Line connecting RV Road and Bommasandra via Electronic City is crucial for thousands of commuters.

Since its launch, the Yellow Line has been witnessing a significantly higher footfall than expected, ferrying an average of 60,000 to 80,000 passengers per day. The ridership on the RV Road-Bommasandra stretch has surpassed its initial estimate of 25,000 to 30,000 passengers. Earlier last month, the BMRCL stated that operation of the additional trains will lead to a surge in passengers.
