The Municipal Corporation Gurugram’s (MCG) door-to-door waste disposal scheme has suffered another setback, with the Urban Local Bodies department cancelling the corporation’s tender due to technical shortcomings. This marks the fifth time in the past 18 months that the initiative has been delayed.
The repeated stalling of the scheme is attributed to frequent changes and flaws in the Request for Proposal (RFP), which has visibly impacted the city’s sanitation system.
To address the issue, the department has called a ‘Vendors Meet on Solid Waste Management’ on September 15 at Haryana Niwas, Chandigarh. The meeting will include participation from agencies, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), NGOs, and cooperative societies, and the public has been invited to submit suggestions to improve the system.
Earlier in July, MCG had issued separate tenders for all four zones of Gurugram. While six agencies applied for Zone-4, two to three agencies applied for each of the other zones. However, on September 12, the headquarters cancelled the process and issued a new RFP, with plans to develop a separate system for Gurugram and Faridabad.

Pradeep Dahiya, Commissioner of MCG, confirmed the cancellation and urged residents to participate in the upcoming meeting to share their inputs and suggestions.
