A devastating road accident occurring between the villages of Bhawar and Gharwal in Sonipat has been attributed to reckless driving. The incident resulted in the deaths of five young men and left two others injured.

According to reports, the driver identified as Deepak from Khidwali village, Rohtak, was operating the vehicle at a high speed with extreme negligence. Despite repeated warnings and pleas from his friends to slow down, Deepak allegedly ignored their concerns, leading to the vehicle spiraling out of control and colliding with a tree.

The post-mortem examinations for the five deceased are scheduled to take place this Saturday at the BPS Government Medical College for Women. The tragedy has cast a shroud of mourning over four local villages.

Sequence Of Events

Mohit, a resident of Khidwali and one of the survivors, provided a statement to the police detailing the events leading up to the crash. On Friday, a group of friends, including Rohit (alias Golu), Sagar, Ankush, Deepak, Sahil and Ankit, had traveled to Bhawar village to attend a wedding ceremony for their friend Ajay’s paternal aunt.

After completing the ceremony, the group departed Bhawar in a Scorpio. Witnesses state that:

  • Deepak began driving recklessly as soon as they left the village.
  • He reportedly started swerving the vehicle across the road.
  • Despite his companions repeatedly asking him to drive safely, he refused to listen.

The Fatal Collision

As the vehicle approached Gharwal village, the driver lost complete control. The Scorpio struck a roadside Peepal tree with such force on the passenger side that the vehicle spun around, causing catastrophic injuries to everyone inside.

The deceased have been identified as:

  • Rohit (alias Golu)
  • Ankush
  • Deepak (The driver)
  • Sahil
  • Sagar

Another passenger, Ankit, remains in critical condition and has been referred to Rohtak for advanced treatment. Mohit is currently admitted to the BPS Government Medical College, where his formal complaint has led to the registration of a police case. The tragedy has deeply affected the residents of Khidwali, Ghuskani, Jindran and Bhawar villages.
