Haryana Minister Anil Vij and Kaithal Superintendent of Police (SP) Upasana engaged in a heated argument over the suspension of a sub-inspector, who allegedly involved in a corruption-related matter. The dramatic exchange unfolded at a grievance redressal meeting in the Kaithal district, Haryana, on Friday.
The grievance redressal meeting turned into an ugly spat between the two individuals who hold powerful positions in the state when an issue related to an alleged corrupt policeman was brought up by a resident of Titram village, Sandeep Malik. Malik accused a sub-inspector, also named Sandeep, of fraud in a land purchase case.
Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister directed Kaithal SP to suspend the accused sub-inspector, but she pointed out that it does not fall under her authority. She attempted to explain that she did not have the power to suspend the accused, as the sub-inspector was from Kurukshetra, which is a different district. Her explanation prompted Vij to escalate the argument, which ended with the Minister telling her to get out. "...Then get out of here if you have no power," he ordered the senior police officer.
Vij Gets Into Altercation With Cop
This was not the first time Vij lost his cool during an interaction with a cop. Earlier in November last year, a similar District Grievance Redressal Committee meeting in Kaithal witnessed Vij getting into an altercation with a police official for allegedly ignoring the directives of the state minister.
For several minutes, there was a forceful exchange of words between Vij, who was chairing the meeting, and the police official. The transport, energy and labour minister alleged that the police official had ignored his earlier directive to register a Zero FIR in a fraud case.
