Amarnath Yatra 2026: A special contingent of women personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been deployed at the Nunwan base camp near Pahalgam for the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026. This unit is an important part of the multi-layered security arrangements designed to ensure the safety, dignity, and convenience of female pilgrims during the Yatra.

Key Responsibilities Of The Women CRPF Contingent

- The women jawans are responsible for frisking female devotees during security checks and managing queues to maintain a smooth flow of movement.

- They are stationed at key checkpoints to assist elderly and disabled women before the pilgrims move toward the holy cave shrine.

- Additionally, these personnel will provide essential information to pilgrims and offer every possible support to first-time pilgrims and senior women.

A Look At The CRPF Team

Among the deployed personnel is Muskan Tyagi from Uttar Pradesh, who joined the CRPF in 2023 and is undertaking Amarnath Yatra duty for the first time. She is a part of a team of over a dozen women soldiers stationed at the Nunwan camp, a primary base along the 48-kilometre Pahalgam route.

This contingent also includes Aarti Singh from Uttar Pradesh, Sandhya Rani from Andhra Pradesh, Kiron from Nagaland, Somashree from West Bengal, and Asha Bai Meena from Rajasthan. The team, drawn from various states across the country, showcases the CRPF's national diversity.

Security At Nunwan Base Camp

To manage the expected flow of pilgrims, elaborate security and crowd management arrangements have been made at Nunwan base camp. The CRPF, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and other security agencies, has put a multi-layered security cordon in place on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes.

Road Opening Parties (ROPs), Bomb Disposal and Detection Squads (BDDS), dog squads, drone surveillance, night patrolling, and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been deployed to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

Amarnath Yatra 2026: Schedule And Routes

- The 57-day Shri Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28.

- To reach the holy cave shrine located in the Himalayas, pilgrims will travel via two routes: the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter Baltal route in Ganderbal district.
