Amrit Bharat Yojana: Indian Railways is set to redevelop 13 stations in Delhi under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), aimed at modernising railway infrastructure and improving passenger experience. The initiative focuses on long-term planning, including station master plans, better connectivity across transport modes, and enhanced accessibility for passengers.
At the New Delhi Railway Station, key works have already been completed. According to Jagran.com, these include the creation of a holding area on the Ajmeri Gate side, along with the shifting of offices and passenger facilities to enable demolition work on the Paharganj side. Construction of a double basement and the foundation for an elevated road at the Paharganj end are currently underway.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme seeks to upgrade stations with improved access and circulation areas, seamless integration with both sides of the city, and better station buildings. Plans also include enhanced waiting halls, toilets, seating arrangements, and drinking water facilities.
Additionally, stations will see wider foot overbridges or air concourses based on passenger load, along with lifts, escalators, and ramps to improve accessibility. Platform surfaces and coverings will be upgraded, while shops promoting local products under initiatives like ‘One Station One Product’ will also be introduced.

The scheme further focuses on developing parking spaces, multimodal integration, facilities for Divyangjans, and advanced passenger information systems. Provisions for executive lounges, business meeting spaces, and landscaping are also part of the plan.
