Indian open-water swimmer Anshuman Jhingran has secured his second Guinness World Records title after becoming the youngest male to complete the Oceans Seven, one of the toughest challenges in international marathon swimming.

Jhingran was officially recognised by Guinness World Records after completing the seven iconic open-water crossings at the age of 21 years and 109 days. He achieved the feat on June 30 this year by successfully crossing Japan’s Tsugaru Strait, the seventh and final stage of his three-year Oceans Seven journey.

The achievement comes just three years after Jhingran entered the Guinness World Records for the first time. In July 2023, when he was only 18 years and 126 days old, he became the youngest male to swim across the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland. He completed the demanding crossing in 11 hours, 28 minutes and 52 seconds.

Following that achievement, Jhingran embarked on an ambitious journey to complete all seven Oceans Seven crossings. Between July 2023 and June this year, he successfully conquered some of the world’s most challenging open-water routes.

His Oceans Seven journey included the North Channel on July 17, 2023, the Catalina Channel on August 30, 2023, and the Cook Strait on January 18, 2024. He then completed the Molokai/Ka’iwi Channel on October 5, 2024, followed by the Strait of Gibraltar on May 9, 2025, and the English Channel on August 11, 2025. His final crossing was Japan’s Tsugaru Strait, completed on June 30, 2026, in 11 hours, 37 minutes and 41 seconds.

Often described as the open-water swimming equivalent of mountaineering’s Seven Summits, the Oceans Seven requires swimmers to tackle powerful currents, unpredictable weather, cold water, tides and marine life while maintaining intense physical and mental endurance for several hours.
