State Bureau, Patna | Jan Suraaj Party state president Manoj Bharti-led delegation on Friday met with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), raising concerns over alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct in the Bankipur bypoll. A four-point memorandum was submitted to the CEO, he added.
Bharti alleged that misleading and false posters regarding Jan Suraaj funder Prashant Kishor have been put up at several major intersections in Patna over the past few days. Kishor is contesting the Bankipur bypoll for the first time, necessitated after the BJP chief, Nitin Nabin, vacated the seat.
He said putting up misleading posters is a direct violation of the Model Code of Conduct and an attempt to mislead voters ahead of the byelection.
Jan Suraaj Party Demands Action
Bharti said his party raised the issue with the poll body and demanded action against the culprits.
In another development, the Election Commission allocated election symbols to candidates and political parties for the Bankipur Assembly by-election. The Jan Suraaj Party was awarded the 'school bag' election symbol for the by-election.
JSP Alleges Removal Of Posters And Banners
Bharti alleged that the BJP workers forcibly removed JSP posters and banners from people's homes without their consent. He claimed that those who removed the JSP posters posed themselves as municipal corporation employees but fled when asked for their identity cards.
"BJP flags and posters were put up without the homeowner's permission. This matter has also been raised with the Election Commission," the JSP leader said.
JSP Expresses Concern Over Deployment Of Jeevika Didis And Paramilitary Forces
Bharti said complaints were received about the use of Jeevika Didis outside polling stations and, in some cases, inside polling booths during the 2025 assembly elections. He demanded that such a situation not be allowed to arise again in the bypoll. Bharti also said that paramilitary forces should be deployed to maintain security outside polling booths.
