A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker alleged she was attacked with weapons by the workers of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kolkata on Monday. Saraswati Sarkar, the president of the BJP Mahila Mandal's unit in Kasba, south Kolkata, claimed that she was attacked while she and other party members were hanging election posters.
A picture of Sarkar, shared by Debasree Chaudhuri, Ex-Union Minister Of State For Ministry of Women and Child Development, showed Sarkar holding her head with blood coming down her face.
Following the incident, Debasree held a protest at Anandapur Police Station asking the culprits who attacked Saraswati Sarkar to be arrested.
"Protest at Anandapur Police Station against brutal attack by TMC @MamataOfficial goons on Kasba Mondal President. Officer-in-charge of Anandapur PS is missing, they have to arrest culprits who attacked Saraswati Sarkar," wrote Debasree in an X post.
TMC Uses Violence As Weapon: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of West Bengal has made a habit of using violence as its weapon. He also informed that the BJP has filed a complaint about the same with the ECI, adding that the saffron regiment wants free and fair elections.
