Bengaluru News:  A heated discussion over urban inequality has been triggered by a widely shared aerial picture of Bellandur, which shows the sharp contrast between two nearby communities: one is a densely populated, impoverished neighbourhood, while the other is a carefully designed luxury villa complex.

Many have questioned the municipal authorities' priorities in city planning as a result of the apparent division.

Shared extensively on social networking site X, the image has been compared to the well-known strategy game "Clash of Clans," with some referring to it as a real-life "Clash of Cans."

Although the source of the widely shared drone photo is still unclear, it has reignited conversations about Bengaluru's urban planning issues.

Here's How Netizens Reacted

Netizens were quick to draw attention to the discrepancy, asking why private developers can build well-planned, upscale neighbourhoods but municipal officials are unable to do so.

"Why can’t municipal corporations plan our cities the way private developers do?" one user asked. Another pointed out the systemic issues behind such disparities, writing, "They keep the left like that so that people can buy the right at over-inflated prices. The right is owned by the same people who manage the left."

Criticism also extended to governance and corruption, with a user stating, "While private realtors can build such planned layouts, why can't any government authority? It was never about money, technology, or capability, it has always been about priorities and corruption leading to ill-fated infrastructure for the deserving. When will people realize this?"
