Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: BMRCL Extends Operations By 2 Hours On Purple Line | Check Timings, Other Details

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Friday announced that the metro services on the Purple Line will be extended by two hours. The metro authority stated that the services will be extended to provide convenience to the residents, adding that the step is expected to promote the public transport among the residents of the Silicon City.

The authorities stated that the new schedule will be implemented from March 13. While providing details, they stated that the services between ITPL and Mysuru Road will now begin at 3.56 pm. They said that earlier, the train used to begin operating at 5.56 PM. They also stated that the extra hours will lure more residents to travel via metro trains, especially the office employees of these regions.

BMRCL stated that the adjustments aim to make traveling easy for the residents in the evening hours, further adding that thousands of IT professionals reside in these areas. The authority further urged the residents to take advantage of the revised schedule.

Earlier on Thursday, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar confirmed that the much-hyped Yellow Line of Namma Metro will become operational by May 25. He gave this information in response to a query by Bommanahalli MLA M Satish Reddy during a state assembly session.

While providing details, Shivakumar stated that the construction work of the last phase of the Yellow Line is underway. He also stated that thousands of residents will get benefits once the train starts operating from RV Road to Bommasandra.

The Yellow Line will be very crucial for the transportation of the city, as it will have 16 metro stations. The metro line is likely to eliminate traffic congestion along key routes, especially around Central Silk Board. The officials believe that the extended time frame will invite more commuters to use the metro services.
