Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro Line: The long-pending Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro project has entered a key phase as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has begun preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 59.60 km metro line connecting Madavara in Bengaluru to Nagannanapalya in Tumakuru.

Speaking to The Hindu, a BMRCL official said while construction is still some distance away, the DPR will be critical in evaluating the project’s feasibility and in deciding whether a metro extension is the best solution to address the region’s growing mobility needs.

Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro Line DPR Work Begins: Check Details

The BMRCL has appointed Aarvee Engineering Consultants to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed 59.60-km metro corridor, with the consultancy cost capped at Rs 1.2 crore, The Hindu reported. Confirming the development, BMRCL Chief Public Relations Officer Yashwanth Chavan said that field-level studies have already begun along the proposed corridor.

Speaking to The Hindu, Chavan said, “The ongoing exercise includes ground surveys, data collection on traffic and travel patterns, preliminary alignment checks, various assessments, and initial geotechnical investigations, all of which will form the basis for detailed planning and design of the proposed metro extension.”

Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro Line: Check Route, Stations And More

The Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro corridor, planned under Namma Metro Phase 4 expansion, is set to be among the most expensive projects in Karnataka’s transport pipeline. Once operational, the line will serve commuters travelling between Bengaluru’s north-western outskirts and Tumakuru, located about 70 km from the city centre.

- Total Length: The total length of the proposed line is 59.60 km.

- Estimated Cost: The Bengaluru-Tumakuru Metro line is estimated to cost Rs 20,649 crore.

- Total Stations: A total of 26 stations are planned along the corridor.

- Route: The line will run from Madavara in Bengaluru to Nagannanapalya in Tumakuru.
