Bengaluru Water Cut: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply on Thursday, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, to carry out urgent repair work.

The repairs will focus on replacing the 220 kV High Level Bus GOS and other equipment along the power line connecting the Vrishabhavathi and Tataguni power plants, as reported by Deccan Herald. To facilitate this work, the Tataguni 220 kV power station and all associated water pumping equipment in the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme will be shut down for two hours. This shutdown will lead to a temporary halt in water supply throughout all stages of the Cauvery water system.

Additionally, three booster pumping stations have been established at TK Halli, Harohalli, and Tataguni. These stations enable water to be pumped to a height of 450 metres equivalent to a 50-storey building using steel pipes that range from 500 mm to 2200 mm in diameter. The pipes extend approximately 110 kilometres to deliver water across Bengaluru. The project required 145,000 metric tonnes of steel and 2.4 crore man-hours to complete, showcasing a remarkable achievement in modern engineering.
