Bengaluru News: Bengaluru police have apprehended a 32-year-old woman, identified as Shabreen Taj and her 20-year-old adopted daughter, Nilofar, for allegedly committing a series of house burglaries across the city. The duo reportedly posed as passengers in an autorickshaw to scout for locked homes to target.

According to The Hindu report, Nilofar, an orphan, had been adopted by Shabreen and trained to assist in the burglaries. Additionally, Shabreen had adopted two other minors, a boy and a girl, who were also being groomed for similar crimes.

The Bommanahalli police made the arrests following a theft complaint filed in Garvebhavipalya on March 18. Investigators used CCTV footage to trace the suspects back to DJ Halli, where they were ultimately apprehended.

Shabreen Taj is a known offender with a history of criminal activity, including multiple pending cases at the DJ Halli police station. She and Nilofar drove around in an autorickshaw, searching for houses that appeared to be unoccupied. Once they identified a suitable target, Shabreen would send Nilofar in to break in and steal valuables.

With the arrest of Shabreen and Nilofar, police have resolved three burglary cases, including two within the jurisdiction of the Mico Layout police station. Authorities recovered 130 grams of gold jewellery valued at Rs 11 lakh, along with the autorickshaw used in the crimes. However, the other two adopted minors remain at large.

City Police Commissioner B Dayananda praised the efforts of the investigative team for their swift action in solving the case and announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for their work.
