On SIR in Bihar, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said,"... The final voter's list after SIR has been given to all political parties. Post the date of nomination filing, the Voters' list, which is to be released, will be final."

As the Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to announce the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections on Monday, the BJP expressed confidence that the NDA government will be formed again in the poll-bound state.

Speaking to IANS, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, said, "It is a very positive development that Bihar will once again move towards a stable government. When the government is formed and work begins, progress is made swiftly in various schemes and initiatives. The announcement of the elections is a welcome step. I am fully confident that the NDA government will be formed again.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is strengthening its strategy and preparing for crucial discussions on seat-sharing within the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan).

JMM’s Central General Secretary Vinod Pandey and Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar will attend a key Mahagathbandhan meeting in Patna on October 7.

According to Jagran.com, this meeting is expected to finalize seat-sharing and alliance strategies. JMM President Hemant Soren has given clear instructions to prioritize maintaining the alliance’s unity.

At the same time, the party aims to expand its organizational presence in Bihar. JMM is focusing on constituencies along the Bihar-Jharkhand border, where it has a strong social and political base.

The party plans to stake a claim on about 12 to 15 seats in districts like Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Banka, and Jamui.

As the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to announce the Bihar Assembly election schedule on Monday, ruling JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar noted that the public will vote for the political parties based on their performance in the last 20 years.

JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha told reporters, "We welcome it. Elections are a festival of democracy, and the public will vote based on the work done in Bihar in the past 20 years. The public has made up its mind to vote for the double-engine government...We have a strong track record of serving the people of the state..."

Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad on Monday expressed his hopes that the Election Commission of India (ECI) will strictly enforce the right to vote and conduct free and fair elections in the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls. The ECI is set to announce the election schedule today at 4 pm.

"I hope the Election Commission will strictly enforce the right to vote given to the people in the Constitution. The Constitution will be protected, democracy will be protected, and I hope the Election Commission will conduct free and fair elections... I hope the voters will initiate the change of power," Awadhesh Prasad told ANI.

The final voter list for Bihar, released on September 30, records a total of 7.42 crore (74.2 million) registered voters, a decrease from 7.89 crore (78.9 million) in June.

Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Date Live Updates: Political parties have urged the EC to hold the polls immediately after the Chhath festival, which will be celebrated at the end of October, to ensure greater voter participation as a large number of people employed outside return home for festivities.

The 2020 assembly polls in the state were held in three phases under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has rolled out several new measures for the upcoming Bihar elections, such as improved voter list management, increased salaries for election staff, mobile phone deposit facilities at polling stations, and full webcasting coverage at all booths. Leaders from BJP, RJD, JD(U), and other parties have requested phased polling after the Chhath festival to encourage higher voter turnout.

Meanwhile, election campaigns are intensifying, with parties attacking their opponents and highlighting their own platforms across the state. Currently, the NDA holds 131 assembly seats, while the Mahagathbandhan controls 111.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has stated that to ensure smooth voting, no polling station will have more than 1,200 voters.

The Chief Election Commissioner stated that identity cards have been issued to booth-level officials for better identification. Mobile phones can be deposited in a room outside the booth. This process will be implemented throughout Bihar. There will be 100 per cent webcasting at every polling station.

The electoral battle in Bihar will be a direct contest between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Grand Alliance, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

The NDA currently holds 131 seats: BJP 80, JD(U) 45, HAM(S) 4, and two independents.

The opposition has 111 seats: RJD 77, Congress 19, CPI(ML) 11, CPI(M) 2, and CPI 2. Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party will also contest all 243 seats in the state.

In a major security preparedness move, more than 500 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), comprising over 5,000 personnel, have been earmarked for deployment across Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

The deployment includes 121 companies from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and around 400 from the Border Security Force (BSF), along with contingents from other CAPFs such as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), sources privy to the development told ANI on Monday.

Bihar has 243 assembly constituencies, including two reserved for STs and 38 for SCs.
