At least 35 passengers suffered injuries and 12 are in critical condition after a bus carrying labourers travelling from Nawada to West Bengal overturned on NH-31 near Zurabganj during the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred when the bus driver swerved to avoid a speeding car.
Initial findings suggest that the bus reached Jurabganj at around 3 am in the morning. A speeding car, losing its control collided with the bus and it overturned on the highway. Upon receiving the information, the Koira police station and a rescue team arrived at the scene. All the injured were taken to the Koira Primary Health Center by ambulance. Police have seized the crashed bus and car and launched an investigation.
According to doctors, many of the injured passengers in the accident suffered serious injuries in multiple body parts. After first aid, 12 to 15 seriously injured were referred to Purnia Sadar Hospital for advance treatment.
The police has launched an investigation into the incident and are attempting to find out the exact cause of the incident. Shortly after the collision, traffic on the highway had been restored to normal.
In a separate incident, four people died and one got severely injured after a car collided with a trailer on the Azamgarh-Varanasi National Highway on Friday. Locals say that the accident took place near the Kanjhit market of Devgaon Kotwali as the speeding Ertiga car collided with the trailer, leading to panic. The reports suggest that all the deceased are from Jharkhand's Daltonganj and were returning to their home state.
