Bihar New Toll Tax Policy: In a major update for the residents of Bihar, the state government has implemented a new toll policy to boost the tax collection. As per the policy, commercial vehicles will be required to pay toll tax on state highways and bridges longer than 250 meters. The road construction department has emphasized that toll collection is an integral part of the new policy, leading to end on all the speculations.

Double Fine In Case Of Evasion 

As per the new policy, a driver will be charged double the tax amount if they try to avoid paying the toll or leave without paying. The department will send an e-notice to the vehicle owner's registered mobile number if they do not pay the toll. The officials stated that no penalty will be imposed if the toll is paid within 72 hours; however, the department has right to collect the fine if the toll remains unpaid within 15 days.

Apart from this, the documents linked with the vehicle will be seized if the toll amount is not paid within the deadline. The new policy also highlights that the toll collection system will be integrated with the vehicle app to detect the defaulters.

How To Register Objection 

However, the vehicle owners can register their objection online on the Bihar government portal within 72 hours if they feel that the e-notice is not served as per the rules. As per the new policy, the concerned officials will investigate and issue a decision within five days of receiving the objection. However, the outstanding amount will be automatically waived if a decision is not made within five days.

The commuters have been advised to follow the guidelines and cooperate with the regional officials. As per the experts, the new toll policy will improve the tax collection and will provide a significant boost to the ongoing and proposed construction projects in the state.
