The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to make a hat-trick in Uttar Pradesh by winning the next year's assembly elections, akin to the one at the Centre. In line with that UP BJP President Pankaj Choudhary on Thursday expanded his team after extensive brainstorming and assessing the capabilities of party workers at every level.
His new team includes 19 vice presidents and eight general secretaries. In the latest overhaul, 70 per cent of the state units have been changed.
What changed this time
The size of the state organisation has increased from 55 to 64 in comparison to 2023. This time, along with the backward classes, ample space has been given to the Scheduled Castes and women.
Eight general secretaries have been appointed instead of seven. 19 vice presidents have been appointed instead of 18, and 19 secretaries have been appointed instead of 16. All the office bearers of the Legislative Council members have been removed. All six regional presidents have been replaced.
Regarding the new team of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, as was already predetermined, with the exception of a few names, a completely new list would be released.
Abhijat Mishra, a young leader who has been working indirectly with the organisation for a long time, has been appointed General Secretary. Rajnath Singh's younger son, Neeraj Singh, has also officially joined the organisation. He has been appointed Vice President, replacing his elder brother, Pankaj Singh.

After the announcement of the BJP Uttar Pradesh executive committee, discussions about Mission UP 2027 are gaining momentum. BJP Uttar Pradesh President Pankaj Chaudhary said, "Bharatiya Janata Party is a party for all communities. It works with youth, women, and everyone. We ensure that all castes are accommodated within the party and that our workers from all regions are included in it in a nearly equal manner."
