In another, unrelated update, the Indian Air Force (IAF) airshow at Marina Beach in Chennai on Sunday resulted in at least four fatalities and 96 attendees being hospitalised due to heatstroke. The event, celebrating the 92nd IAF Day, attracted over 1.5 million spectators.

Reports indicate that many felt suffocated due to the large crowd, resulting in a total of 230 individuals fainting from the intense heat and overcrowding. Among them, 96 people's conditions worsened, leading to their admission to a nearby hospital. PTI report quoted a senior police official stating as "nearly a dozen people fainted on the Marina due to a near stampede-like situation and the extreme heat," and were treated at a nearby government facility.

Traffic congestion hindered the movement of ambulances, complicating the evacuation process for attendees. Police were required to manage traffic to allow three ambulances access to the hospital.

Before the airshow in Chennai, the traffic police had issued a notice to prevent disruptions, advising commuters to use the Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) for a smoother journey. However, the massive turnout made it difficult for people to navigate the city.
