West Bengal News: A team from the CID, the West Bengal Police's intelligence wing, visited the homes of four Trinamool Congress MLAs, including Nayana Bandyopadhyay and Kunal Ghosh, on Thursday. This action was taken following a controversy over the signatures on a letter submitted by the Trinamool Congress's council party in the Assembly.

What Is The Matter?

It is alleged that the signatures of the MLAs who signed before Assembly Pro-tem Speaker Tapas Roy do not match the signatures on the council party's letter. This letter was submitted by the Council party to declare Sovandeb Chattopadhyay as the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. The signatures on that letter are now under scrutiny. However, Sovandeb declined to comment on the entire controversy.

According to sources, a written complaint was filed by the Assembly at the Hare Street police station in this matter. The CID is now investigating this complaint. It has been reported that signature experts have been involved in the investigation with the assistance of the Lalbazar Police Headquarters.

The CID team visited the home of Chowranghee MLA Nayana Bandyopadhyay twice on Thursday. The first time, she was not at home. Later, after a phone conversation, the officers again visited her residence in Taltala in the evening.

It is reported that the team consisted of two female and four male officers, and the entire process was videotaped. The officers showed Nayana the relevant letter and asked her if the signature on it was hers. Nayana admitted that it was hers. She said that due to limited space on the letter, she had to sign it differently. Nayana said, "I am a five-time MLA. This is insulting to me. I have informed the opposition leader about the entire matter."

CID Reaches Homes Of MLAs Kunal Ghosh, Baharul Islam, And Tapas Maiti

A second CID team also reached the home of Beleghata MLA Kunal Ghosh in connection with the same case. However, he was not at home at the time. Later, in a phone conversation, he told the officers that he would appear in person and respond within the next two to three days. The CID team also visited the homes of Canning East MLA Baharul Islam and Domjur MLA Tapas Maiti.
