Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Thursday expanded his cabinet, inducting 23 MLAs into the council of ministers. While 19 of these legislators belonged to the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), two of the MLAs were from Congress. Apart from this, two ministerial births have been kept for the VCK and IUML, two key allies of TVK. CM Vijay has decided to not include the members of the rebel group of AIADMK after the principal allies, especially the left forces, expressed their reservation.

The MLAs from the single largest party who took the oath today include Srinath, Vignesh K, Ramesh, Vijay Tamilan Parthiban A, Thennarasu K, Mohamed Farvas J, M Vijay Balaji, Kamali S, C Vijayalakshmi, RV Ranjithkumar, Vinoth, Rajeev, B Rajkumar, V Gandhiraj, Mathan Raja P, Jegadeshwari K, Rajesh Kumar S, Logesh Tamilselvan D, P Viswanathan, Kumar R, V Sampath Kumar, D Sarathkumar, and N Marie Wilson.

Apart from this, two Congress MLAs, Rajesh Kumar and Thiru P Vishwanathan also took the oath as the ministers. The grand old party has got a space in the Tamil Nadu ministry after almost six decades. The VCK and IUML are yet to finalise their candidates for the ministry post, reported News18, citing sources.

Earlier on Tuesday, Aadhav Arjuna, the public works and sports minister, stated that CM Vijay wanted the allies to be part of the government. "Chief Minister has reiterated it. That is his wish and dream too. We expect good news. We’d want VCK chief Thol Thirumavalanan too to join the cabinet," he said.

The rebel MLAs of AIADMK, led by former ministers SP Velumani and CV Shanmugam, expected to be part of the cabinet. However, the TVK decided to not consider their requests after the leaders of the left forces raised their objection.
