UP Dowry Death Case: A newlywed woman was reportedly found hanging under suspicious conditions in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district on Tuesday night. The reports suggest that hours ahead of the incident, the 19-year-old had called her father and pleaded to take her back home, adding that she could be killed there. The family members of Pushpendri Devi, the deceased, have accused her husband and in-laws of pressuring her for dowry money. The police have launched a detailed probe into the matter.
Earlier in February, Pushpendri married Ompal, a farmer from Amroha's Khumawali, reported the Times of India. Balbeer Singh, the deceased's father, alleged that his family had given dowry money at the time of marriage; however, Ompal's relatives kept asking for more money. The family allegedly put pressure on the newlywed for Rs 10 lakh and harassed her on multiple occasions.

While providing details, Circle officer Pankaj Kumar Tyagi stated that an FIR has been filed against Ompal, his father, mother, and two others under multiple relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
"The body was sent for post-mortem and ligature marks appeared around her neck. The exact cause of death can only be known after the autopsy report. Meanwhile, teams have been formed to nab the accused, who are presently at large," Tyagi was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
Balbeer Singh stated that his daughter had called him in the evening hours of Tuesday, requesting him to take her back home. He further stated that Pushpendri said that her in-laws would kill her if he did not come. "My daughter kept saying, 'Papa, they will kill me'," he said.
"I tried to console her and told her I would come, but before I could even reach her, I was told she was dead. I could never imagine that our last conversation would end like this," he added.
