CJ Roy Death: Confident Group Chairman CJ Roy was found dead at his office in Bengaluru on Friday. According to media reports, he shot himself dead after a raid by the income tax officials. Police rushed to the spot and intiated a probe in the death of the prominent figure in the real estate sector in Bengaluru.

Who Was CJ Roy?

CJ Roy, also Roy Chiriyankandath Joseph, was the founder and chairman of the Confident Group. He was one of India's leading real estate developers, having significantly expanded the company's presence in South India, especially Bengaluru and Kerala. Besides real estate, the Confident Group is active in several sectors including hospitality, entertainment, education, aviation, and international business. He led his company's projects spread across Bengaluru, Kerala, Dubai, and the UAE.

He was also a Malayalam film producer. Roy produced films like Mohanlal's Casanova, and was involved in international sports sponsorships. He was a native of Kochi (Kerala) but grew up in Bengaluru. He received his education in France and Switzerland, where he earned a doctorate (PhD) in Business Administration.

 In another development, the ED, Bengaluru Zonal Office provisionally attached assets worth Rs. 177.3 crore on Thursday (January 29) under PMLA, 2002 in the case relating to illegal online betting and gambling activities involving KC Veerendra and his associates. The attached properties include immovable properties including agricultural land and residential sites along with other movable assets, which have been attached as value of any such property/property derived directly from Proceeds of Crime generated out of illegal online betting/gambling operations.
