Congress leader Nakul Kamal Nath, son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, dropped a major hint of a possible political switch after he removed the party name and symbol from his social media bio. This comes a day after Madhya Pradesh BJP chief VD Sharma said that the party's doors are open for Congress leaders who are upset with the Grand Old Party for rejecting the invitation for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ayodhya's Ram Temple.
The speculations of Congress stalwart Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath, who is the MP from Chhindwara, joining the BJP has once again created a buzz in the state's political circles. Meanwhile, Kamal Nath on Saturday reached Delhi amid the rumours of him joining the BJP.
While speaking to reporters on being asked if he is joining the BJP, the former Madhya Pradesh CM did not deny categorically and said he will inform if there is something like that happened.
The fresh buzz has been triggered by the fact that Kamal Nath was neither selected as the party's candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls nor consulted by the top brass of the Congress before appointing wealthy Gwalior-Chambal politician Ashok Singh as the party's nominee for the MP biennial elections on February 27.
Congress Leader Digvijaya Singh Denies Speculations
Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh, meanwhile, denied the rumours that Kamal Nath could join the BJP and said that "those who have started their career with Nehru-Gandhi family cannot leave Sonia Gandhi and Indira Gandhi's families".
"I had a conversation with Kamal Nath ji last night. He is in Chhindwara. He is the person who started his political career with the Nehru-Gandhi family. You cannot expect that person to leave Sonia Gandhi and Indira Gandhi's families," Digvijaya Singh said on being asked if Kamal Nath will join BJP.
MP BJP Chief Invites Congress Leaders
Madhya Pradesh BJP chief VD Sharma claimed that several Congress leaders were upset with the grand old party rejecting the invitation for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya and said these people should get a chance. "We have kept our doors open because there are people in Congress who feel that Congress boycotts Lord Ram, India has Ram in its heart. When Congress insults him, then some people are pained by this, who are upset, and they should get a chance," Sharma said.
Congress Crisis
Earlier this week, several leaders switched sides in a major blow to the Congress in Madhya Pradesh. Former MLA Dinesh Ahirwar and Congress District President from Vidisha Rakesh Katare joined the BJP on February 12. Earlier this month, Jabalpur Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh joined the BJP on February 7. Earlier last year, the Congress lost the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the campaign for which was spearheaded by Kamal Nath. BJP won the elections with a comfortable majority and Mohan Yadav was elected as the new chief minister of the state replacing senior party leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
