Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the families of each of those killed in the blast near the Red Fort on Monday that claimed 12 lives. The chief minister also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for those rendered permanently disabled and Rs 2 lakh for those who sustained serious injuries in the blast, which took place after a high-intensity explosion ripped through a slow-moving car at a traffic signal near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro station on Monday evening, officials said.

Investigations into the terror attack near Red Fort are progressing rapidly. Initial findings indicate that the car explosion was not a typical suicide blast, but was instead triggered in panic by the suspect.

Security agencies have been conducting raids across multiple locations linked to terror networks and have recovered significant quantities of explosives in Faridabad, Saharanpur, Pulwama, and other areas. Investigators believe the suspect acted hastily under mounting pressure.

Sources told ANI that the suspect did not follow the usual pattern of a suicide car bombing -- he neither rammed the car into a target nor collided intentionally. The blast near the Red Fort did not follow the typical modus operandi of suicide bombers, who aim to inflict maximum damage.

Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and forensic experts on Tuesday conducted an extensive investigation at the site of the car blast near the Red Fort in Delhi. The car blast claimed the lives of at least eight people, while several others were left injured.

Delhi Police on Tuesday traced the 11-hour route map of the Hyundai i20 car, in which the blast near the Lal Quila metro station took place on Monday evening. During the investigation, it was discovered that the car had departed from Faridabad for the Red Fort 11 hours prior and had passed through several locations during the journey.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with top officials of probe agencies on the Delhi blast and instructed them to quickly hunt down each culprit. In a message on X, HM Shah shared details of the incident and said, "Chaired review meetings on the Delhi car blast with the senior officials. Instructed them to hunt down each and every culprit behind this incident. Everyone involved in this act will face the full wrath of our agencies."

On Delhi car blast, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate says, "This is a matter of great worry. It happened on the same day as explosive material was recovered in Faridabad. The government cannot determine whether this was a terrorist incident. At such a time, accountability and responsibility should be fixed. During such a difficult time, PM Modi has gone to Bhutan...Did the government have no intelligence input on this incident? Serious lapses in security are happening. The country feels it is not in strong hands. Keeping the country in confidence, further action should be taken."

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the phone from Angola and inquired about the blast that took place last evening near the Red Fort in Delhi. At least 12 people were killed after a car exploded near Red Fort. 

Noida Police conducts checking at prominent places, including malls, shopping centres, metro stations, bus stands, following the Delhi car blast incident. DCP Noida Yamuna Prasad says, "We are conducting checks at all prominent places, and also randomly selected vehicles are being checked."

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday handed over the probe into the deadly car blast near Delhi's Red Fort to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The decision came after Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting with top officials from the Intelligence Bureau, NIA and Delhi Police.

At least 12 people lost their lives, while dozens of others sustained serious injuries after a car exploded near the Red Fort on Monday evening.

Pulwama, J&K: Muzamila, sister-in-law of Dr Umar Un Nabi - a suspect in the blast near Red Fort yesterday, says, "They (security forces) have picked up my husband, brother-in-law and mother-in-law. They asked us about the whereabouts of Umar. We said he is in Delhi. Then they took the three away for questioning. We last spoke to Umar last Friday...He was very attached to my children and loved them a lot. Whenever he visited home, he used to be busy with Cricket. He loved Cricket...I don't know Adil (a doctor and accused in the recent case of seizure of explosives)...He (Umar) wasn't that kind of man. We faced a lot of struggles to get him educated. We worked hard so that he could stand on his own two feet and take care of us. I cannot believe all this. He was engaged but he was not married yet. He had not been home for the last 2 months...He didn't have many friends. He only used to study. That is all I know..."

Shamli, UP: Uncle of one of the deceased, Noman, says, "He had a cosmetics store here. Yesterday, he went to Delhi to buy some things for the shop. He went to the market but did not return. He got a call from there, and we were informed that Noman met with an accident. When we went to the hospital, we saw his body there. We want strict actions against those responsible for this."

On the Delhi car blast, PM Narendra Modi says, "The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice."

"Today, I come here with a very heavy heart. The horrific incident that took place in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the grief of the affected families. The entire nation stands with them today. I was in touch with all the agencies investigating this incident throughout last night. Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice."

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday paid condolences to the deceased in the Delhi blast on Monday evening and vowed strict action against those behind the attack.

"I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives in the tragic incident that occurred in Delhi yesterday. I pray to God to grant strength and solace to the bereaved families in this hour of deep grief. I wish to assure my citizens that the country's leading investigative agencies are conducting a swift and thorough inquiry into the incident. The findings of the investigation will soon be made public. I want to firmly assure the nation that those responsible for this tragedy will be brought to justice and will not be spared under any circumstances," Rajnath Singh said.

The first report of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in the high-intensity explosion near Delhi's Red Fort area is expected on Tuesday, according to Delhi Police Special Cell sources. The report is likely to provide clarity on the nature and composition of the material recovered.

The sources added that the Delhi Police Special Cell has sought information from the Faridabad Crime Branch and Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding the explosives recovered from Faridabad. According to Special Cell sources, initial investigations may have revealed traces of ammonium nitrate.

However, the exact nature of the explosive will be confirmed only after the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) submits its report. The sources further added that nothing resembling an improvised explosive device (IED) blast was found at the scene.

A day after the deadly blast near Delhi's Red Fort, sources cited by news agency ANI suggest that the explosion could be a 'fidayeen' attack (suicide bombing). The report also linked the blast with the terror module busted in Haryana's Faridabad earlier in the day.

"The suspect planned the suicide attack as soon as he learned that the Faridabad module had been busted. All relevant agencies are working on all angles to determine the motive behind the blast," ANI cited sources as saying.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday began a high-level meeting to assess the situation following the deadly blast in Delhi that claimed nine lives and left several others injured. The meeting began at the Home Minister's residence.

Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Sadanand Vasant Date, and Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha are present in the meeting. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat also joined the meeting virtually.

Delhi Red Fort Blast: Two men from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district were killed in the car explosion that occurred near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday evening, officials confirmed. The deceased have been identified as Lokesh Agarwal, a fertilizer trader from Hasanpur area of Amroha, and his friend Ashok, a Delhi resident. According to family members, Lokesh had travelled to Delhi to visit his relative admitted at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday detained over 50 people for their alleged involvement in anti-state activities, an officer said. The detentions were made in raids in Budgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, and Shopian districts of the valley. Police in Budgam in central Kashmir cracked down on the separatist network of the US-based Ghulam Nabi Fai, a lobbyist who has been declared a proclaimed offender by an NIA court.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting at 11 am in the Home Ministry office at Kartavya Bhawan. The meeting will be attended by Home Secretary Govind Mohan, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Director General of the National Investigation Agency, the Delhi Police Commissioner, and other senior officials. The review comes in the wake of the car blast in Delhi, which left eight people dead and several others injured.

Delhi Blast: A day after a major car explosion, the Lal Quila Metro Station has been closed due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal, said the Delhi Metro in a statement.

Acting swiftly on the directive, Tamil Nadu Police have stepped up surveillance and vehicle checks across the state, including at key public locations in Chennai.

Delhi Blast: On Delhi blast case, DCP North Raja Banthia said, "An FIR has been registered under the UAPA, Explosives Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigation has been taken up, and there are many specialised teams of Delhi Police, FSL, NSG here on the scene of the crime, and they are lifting evidence possible to help in the investigation. The investigation is in a very preliminary stage. Any comment on that would be too premature...Post-mortems are also being conducted at LNJP. Five post-mortems have already been done...Yes, we have one or two unidentified bodies. We have already identified 6 bodies..."

Delhi Blast: CCTV visuals of the suspect and the car involved in the blast near Red Fort Metro Station, Chandni Chowk surfaced on Tuesday. The blast, which occurred yesterday around 7 PM, claimed at least eight lives and injured several others.

Delhi Bomb Blast: A team of FSL and security personnel arrived at the site on Tuesday morning amid multi-agencies led probe in the blast which claimed at least eight lives. According to Delhi Police a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort at around 7 pm yesterday.

Delhi Car Blast: Delhi Police registered a case in connection with the blast near the historic Red Fort in the city under various Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

"A case has been registered under sections 16, 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and various sections of the Explosives Act and the BNS at the Kotwali Police Station," Delhi Police said.  

According to an NDTV report, one of the owners of the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday eveninghas been traced to Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Gurugram police have detained Mohd Salman, the original owner of the car with the registration number HR26 CE 7674. During questioning, Salman informed investigators that he had sold the vehicle to a man named Tariq from Pulwama. It remains uncertain whether Tariq subsequently sold the car to another buyer.

Akasa Air issued an advisory on X urging passengers to arrive early at airports in light of heightened security checks across the country. The airline stated, “Due to enhanced security measures at all airports across India, we request you to reach the airport at least 3 hours prior to departure, to ensure a seamless check-in and boarding experience. Please ensure you carry valid government approved photo identification documents for entry to the airport.

In addition to your check-in baggage, only 1 hand bag weighing up to 7 kgs will be permitted. As per regulatory guidelines, all passengers will be required to undergo secondary security checks prior to boarding.”

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by Minister Ashish Sood, visited Lok Nayak Hospital to meet and enquire about the condition of those injured in the Red Fort blast.

Visakhapatnam has been placed on high alert following the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort. Police have intensified security checks across the city, with heavy deployment at key locations and thorough inspection of all vehicles.

Tourist access to Delhi’s Red Fort has been suspended until further notice following the explosion near the monument on Monday evening. Confirming the development, Delhi’s Chief Archaeologist Dr Rajkumar Patel said that the site has been closed to visitors as a precautionary measure after the blast.

Security has also been tightened across all government buildings and key installations in the capital.

In the aftermath of the Delhi bomb blast, Ahmedabad has been placed on high alert. Police have ramped up security checks across the city, particularly at railway stations, where incoming vehicles are being thoroughly inspected. DCP Rupal Solanki said that security arrangements have been tightened to ensure public safety.

The registration certificate of the detained vehicle linked to the Delhi blast identifies it as a Hyundai i20 with registration number HR26CE7674. According to the details, the car is owned by Mohd Salman, a resident of Shanti Nagar, Gurgaon, Haryana.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep concern over the explosion near the Red Fort, calling it “extremely distressing and alarming.” She said, “I express my deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. I pray to God that the injured recover swiftly.”

Gupta assured that all necessary assistance is being provided to those affected. “Every possible assistance is being ensured for the affected people. Teams from the Delhi Police, NSG, NIA, and FSL are working together to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire matter,” she added.

Appealing for calm, the Chief Minister urged citizens not to believe in rumours. “I appeal to all Delhi residents to avoid rumours and maintain peace. Please rely only on official information issued by the police and administration,” she said.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the Red Fort blast, writing on X, “The news of the deaths of people in the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi has left me extremely distressed.”

She added, “Marang Buru, may you grant peace to the souls of the departed and give strength to the grieving families to endure this hour of sorrow. I pray for the swift recovery of those injured in this horrific incident.”

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta To Reach LNJP Hospital Shortly

The car involved in the blast was originally owned by Salman, who had sold it about a year and a half ago to Devendra, a resident of Delhi’s Okhla area. Following the explosion, Delhi Police detained Salman from Gurugram for questioning. During interrogation, he claimed that he had already sold the vehicle. Police are now verifying this information with the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) department.

A Haryana-registered car was used in the blast, police said. The vehicle, bearing registration number HR26-7674, reportedly had people inside at the time of the explosion. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Lok Nayak Hospital to meet those injured in the Red Fort blast.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that a powerful explosion took place in a Hyundai i20 car near Delhi’s Red Fort around 7 pm, leaving several people injured and some dead. “A blast took place in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort in Delhi today at around 7 pm. Due to the blast, 3-4 vehicles were damaged, and people also got injured, and some died. As per Hospital sources, eight people have died so far. Some of the injured are being treated here,” he said.

Shah added that all investigative agencies have been mobilised and are working jointly to determine the cause. “We have launched a thorough investigation, keeping all angles open. As soon as the blast was reported, the Delhi Police Special Cell, Crime Branch, NIA team, SPG team, and FSL team arrived at the scene and are conducting all investigations expeditiously. I hope our agencies will reach a conclusion on the cause of the blast within a short time, and the senior-most FSL team has also arrived,” he said.

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was immediately informed about the incident. “I received a call from the Prime Minister immediately after receiving the news of the blast. After taking the preliminary information, I also briefed the Prime Minister,” Shah said.

The Home Minister confirmed he was heading to the blast site and added that a meeting with senior officials would be held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday morning to review the progress of the investigation. 

The Prime Minister posted on X, “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials.”

Following the blast in New Delhi, a red alert has been issued across all districts of Punjab. Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police have been directed to stay vigilant, while additional forces have been deployed at sensitive and high-risk locations. Vehicle checks and monitoring of suspicious individuals have also been intensified, Punjab Police said.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has declared a high alert nationwide. Enhanced security measures have been implemented at airports, Delhi Metro stations, government buildings, heritage sites and other key installations under CISF protection.

Following the explosion in Delhi, Bihar has been placed on high alert. The state’s Director General of Police (DGP) said that security has been further intensified, especially since the state is already under heightened alert due to the ongoing elections.

Bihar has been on high alert for the past 72 hours, with security teams deployed along all bordering areas to monitor movement and conduct strict checks.

Given the election period, security forces have been carrying out extensive inspections to ensure safety. The DGP urged citizens to cast their votes without fear and assured that all necessary measures are in place to maintain peace and security during polling.

Security has been tightened at the Ghaziabad-Delhi border in the aftermath of the Delhi blasts. Police are conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining heightened vigilance in mixed-population areas in coordination with the Delhi Police. On Monday night, Police Commissioner J Ravinder Gaud and DCP Trans Hindon Nimish Patil visited the UP Gate in Kaushambi to review the security arrangements.

Hours after the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, authorities issued a high alert in Ayodhya. Acting on the directions of SSP Dr Gaurav Grover, an extensive checking and security drive has been launched across the Ayodhya Cantt area, including the Ayodhya Dham premises.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes stock of the situation after the blast in Delhi's Red Fort area. He has spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for update on the situation, ANI reports, citing GoI sources.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha says, "Today at around 6.52 pm, a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light. An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, FSL, NIA, are here... Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. The situation is being monitored. The Home Minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time."

Security has been increased in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal and Gwalior. The police have intensified checking of vehicles at border areas. An alert has been sounded at the railway station too. Lakhs of people from India and abroad have started gathering in Bhopal due to Ijtema from November 14.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is monitoring the situation in Delhi, has spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner after the blast near Red Fort. Teams from the NSG, NIA, and forensic department have been rushed to the spot. The Home Minister is in touch with the director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), news agency ANI reports.

Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal reacts to the explosion near Red Fort metro station in Delhi. "The news of the explosion near the Red Fort is deeply concerning. It is being reported that some people have lost their lives, and this is deeply saddening," he says in a post on X.

Kejriwal calls for swift action from the authorities. "The police and government should immediately investigate how this explosion occurred and whether there is a larger conspiracy behind it. Negligence regarding Delhi's security cannot be tolerated," he says.

In light of the blast in Delhi's Red Fort area, Gurugram has also been put on high alert. DCP West has been given responsibility for the control room. More than 4,000 police personnel have been deployed. A blockade has been put in place at the Delhi-Gurugram border. All vehicles passing through are being checked. In particular, the identity cards of drivers and passengers in vehicles with license plates from other states are being checked.

After the blast in Red Fort area, the Delhi Chief Minister's Office (CMO) ordered that the Lok Nayak Hospital be made fully available for the injured. Patient entry was restricted.

Visuals of the incident showed plumes of fire billowing from the burning cars.

Uttar Pradesh has also been put on a red alert after the bomb blast in Delhi's Red Fort area. Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash said that the DGP has issued instructions to all senior officials in Uttar Pradesh to increase security at sensitive religious sites, sensitive districts, and border areas. All security agencies have also been alerted.

As many as 15 people have been brought to Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi. Of these, eight were pronounced dead on arrival. Three are reported to be seriously injured while one is in stable condition.

The fire department received a call about the car explosion in the evening. Following this, it immediately dispatched six ambulances and seven fire tenders to the scene. Relief and rescue operations are underway, and efforts are underway to control the fire.
