Delhi Budget 2026: The Delhi government has placed a strong emphasis on infrastructure development and environmental sustainability in this year’s budget, presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Describing it as a “green budget,” the government has announced multiple initiatives focused on road construction, flyovers, underpasses, and pollution control measures. In addition, it announced two free LPG cylinders to every household annually, one during Holi and another on Diwali.
Several major projects will be launched to reduce traffic congestion, improve road conditions, and enhance the environment in Delhi. Emphasis has been placed on strengthening urban amenities and providing better transportation.
1. Focus On Green Budget
The Delhi government has allocated approximately 21 per cent of its budget for environmental improvement and pollution control schemes, which aim to increase greenery, reduce pollution, and promote environmentally friendly projects.
2. Big Funds To MCD
The municipal corporation has been allocated a budget of Rs 11,666 crore. This amount will be used to improve sanitation, repair roads, streetlights, and other infrastructure in the city.
3. Additional Budget For Road Development
To improve the condition of Delhi's roads, an additional Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated to the MCD. This will accelerate the repair and improvement of both main roads and many internal routes.
4. Dust-Free Roads
A budget of Rs 1,392 crore has been allocated to improve over 700 kilometres of roads in the capital and reduce dust. The aim is to improve road quality and help reduce pollution.
5. New Flyovers, Elevated Corridors
To ease traffic congestion in Delhi, several new flyovers and elevated corridors will be built. These projects will save commuters time and streamline the city's traffic flow.
6. Bhajanpura-Yamuna Vihar Double Decker Flyover
To ease traffic congestion in East Delhi, the Bhajanpura-Yamuna Vihar double-decker flyover project will be moved forward. Its completion is expected to significantly ease the congestion problem in this area.
7. Barapullah Phase-3 Project To Be Completed
The Barapullah Elevated Corridor Phase-3 is targeted to be completed by June 2026. A provision of Rs 200 crore has been made for this, which will further improve connectivity between South and East Delhi.
8. Rs 100 Cr For Loni Road Underpass
A proposal of Rs 100 crore has been made to construct an underpass on Loni Road. Its construction will reduce traffic congestion on this route and make commuting easier for commuters.
9. Emphasis On Development Of Trans-Yamuna Area
The Yamuna Development Board has been allocated a budget of Rs 300 crore for the development of the Trans-Yamuna area. This amount will be used to improve roads, parks, and other public facilities.
10. Construction Of FOBs
New foot overbridges will be constructed at several locations to ensure pedestrian safety. A budget of Rs 25 crore has been allocated for this purpose, ensuring safe movement on busy roads.
