The new Chief Minister of Delhi is set to take the oath on February 20. The BJP plans to stake its claim to form the government on February 19, following the meeting of the BJP legislative party. The party has postponed the originally scheduled legislative party meeting on Monday by two days. However, the suspense still remains about who will be the saffron party’s pick for the CM post.

"The BJP legislative party meeting scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed. It will now take place on February 19. The Chief Minister's oath-taking ceremony will also take place on February 20, instead of February 18," Jagran.com reported citing the sources.

To oversee the event's arrangements, BJP General Secretaries Vinod Tawde and Tarun Chugh have been appointed as in-charge. Preparations for the oath-taking ceremony are underway at Ramlila Maidan.

According to BJP sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states, Union ministers, industrialists, film stars, cricketers, saints, and sages will be present at the oath-taking ceremony.

Sources revealed that this ceremony will be a grand event, with 12,000 to 16,000 residents from Delhi, saints and sages from various countries, and diplomats attending.

Several names are in the race for the Chief Minister's post in Delhi, with the most prominent being Pravesh Verma. The BJP fielded Pravesh against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, who defeated the latter in a high-stakes contest.

Satish Upadhyay is another strong contender for the Chief Minister's post. He has previously served as the Delhi BJP president and the president of the Delhi youth wing.

The third name in the list is Ashish Sood, who represents the Punjabi face of the BJP in Delhi. Jitender Mahajan is also being considered as a potential candidate for Chief Minister. The fifth name is Vijender Gupta. If the party chooses a female leader, the name of former Delhi Mayor and first-time MLA Rekha Gupta is also a possibility.

The BJP secured power by winning 48 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. This election saw a direct contest between BJP and AAP. However, this time AAP won only 22 seats and prominent AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Satyendra Jain were unable to save their seats.
