Delhi Demolition Drive: A violent clash erupted between locals and officials in Delhi on Wednesday during an anti-encroachment drive near the Syed Faiz Elahi Mosque, leaving five police personnel injured. The Delhi Police stated that a case has been registered under multiple sections of BNS, adding that five people have already been arrested. The authority further stated that the available videos are also being checked and strict action will be taken against the violators. Apart from this, the police also stated that Samajwadi Party MP Mohibbullah Nadvi was also present at the site; however, he left when the demolition began.

- Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma stated that a case has been registered under Sections 121, 123, 221 of the BNS, and Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and Section 191 (rioting). He further stated that more evidence is being collected with the help of the body-borne cameras worn by Delhi Police personnel.
“Five people were arrested on the spot. The matter is being investigated by the Special Staff Inspector. More evidence is being collected with the help of the body-borne cameras worn by Delhi Police personnel and videography from the spot,” Verma was quoted as saying by ANI.
- He also stated that Samajwadi Party MP Mohibbullah Nadvi was also present at the site. "In a preliminary investigation, it has come to light that he was present there, but had left by the time the demolition began. This is being investigated," Verma was quoted as saying by PTI.
- As per the police, 150 to 200 people had gathered at the site when the demolition drive was underway. While many dispersed after being persuaded, some created a ruckus and resorted to stone-pelting, resulting in injuries to five police personnel.
- AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has advised the Delhi Waqf Board to approach the Supreme Court. "Delhi Waqf Board and its managing committee should approach the Supreme Court and state all facts and get status quo..." Owaisi was quoted as saying by ANI.
