Jagran Correspondent, West Delhi: Another incident of a massive fire has been reported at a multi-storey building in Delhi. The fire broke out at a factory manufacturing steel cutting and packaging materials in Mayapuri on Thursday. The fire was so intense that the building partially collapsed in the incident.
Within minutes, the fire spread to the first and second floors. According to preliminary information, the building is built in an area of about 500 square yards and has a basement, ground floor and two floors, in which some parts are temporary, and some are permanent construction.
Due to the intensity of the fire, some parts of the building collapsed. Eighteen fire engines were rushed to the spot, which doused the flames. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The incident comes days after a deadly fire at a hotel in Malviya Nagar, where 22 people, mostly foreigners, died while several others sustained burn injuries. The incident has exposed the gross negligence by officials of departments, including the MCD.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call regarding the blaze at the factory located in Phase I of the Mayapuri Industrial Area was received around 11:17 am. "As the scale of the fire increased, more fire tenders were called to the spot to douse the flames. The fire had engulfed a steel-cutting and packing materials factory operating on the first and second floors of a building spread over nearly 500 square yards," the officer said.
Fire officials said during the firefighting operations, some portions of the first and second floors of the building collapsed. The building now remains in a dangerous condition due to structural damage caused by the blaze and the collapse.
Officials said the fire was brought under control at 2:20 pm, and no casualties were reported till the time of filing of the report.
