Thousands of people commuting daily between Delhi and Gurugram are expected to soon get relief from dilapidated roads and traffic jams, as the Municipal Corporation has accelerated work on a plan to develop the nearly four-kilometre stretch from Bijwasan border to Ram Chowk in Palam Vihar as a model road.
The tender process for this project, worth around Rs 6 crore, has already started, and construction work is likely to begin by the end of next month.
Currently, the poor condition of the road forces motorists to face deep potholes, dust, and traffic congestion. The corporation will now completely reconstruct the stretch. The road will be made wider with the help of contemporary standards to ensure the smooth and swift movement of traffic flow.

To check waterlogging on roads in the rain, a new and modern drainage system would be built on either side of the road. Footpaths for pedestrians and cycle tracks would also be built on either side of the road.
LED roadlights, smart and responsive signals, and traffic furniture would be set up beside the construction of smart traffic signals and furniture. To avoid dust pollution in the summer season, shade trees and medicinal plants would be planted on either side of the road to create a green belt along the road.

Delhi-Gurugram Connectivity to Get a New Boost
Municipal authorities estimate that when finished, the journey between the Bijwasan border and Ram Chowk would be "simpler, quicker and safer than it is now" to give commuters a quicker route. The initiative would directly benefit commuters, office goers and the movement of the commercial vehicle between New Delhi and Gurugram.
In this regard, Praveen Raghav, Executive Engineer of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, said that the stretch from the Bijwasan border to Ram Chowk in Palam Vihar will be developed as a model road, and the tender process has already been initiated.
