Delhi Metro Update: Services on the Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line were disrupted on Tuesday morning after thieves damaged a large section of signalling cables. The incident has led to slower train movement on a key stretch of the Orange Line, affecting passengers travelling towards central Delhi.
Delhi Metro: 800 Metres Of Cables Damaged Between Dhaula Kuan And Shivaji Stadium
According to officials, around 800 metres of signalling cables were stolen and damaged in the section between Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium stations. The issue was detected during an inspection near Metro Pillar Number 09. As a result, trains running from Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 towards New Delhi are operating at reduced speeds in this section.

Delhi Metro: Trains Towards New Delhi Running At Reduced Speed
Due to the damage, trains are moving at a speed of about 25 km per hour on the up line between Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium. Normal train movement has resumed on the remaining sections of the Airport Express Line. Despite the disruption, trains continue to run at an interval of every 10 minutes.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said repair work cannot be carried out during the daytime as it may cause further inconvenience to commuters. The damaged cables will be replaced at night to ensure passenger safety and minimise disruption during peak hours.

Delhi Metro: DMRC Issues Advisory
In a statement, DMRC said that regular announcements are being made at stations and inside trains to inform passengers about the delay and help them plan their journeys better. Travellers have been advised to keep extra time in hand while using the Airport Express Line, as journey time on the affected stretch may be slightly longer.
The metro authority also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers. It said efforts are being made to prevent such incidents in the future.
