Delhi Metro Central Secretariat Update: In another step to bolster connectivity within the national capital, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a significant step. DMRC on Wednesday officially started construction work at the Central Secretariat Metro Station for the Central Vista Corridor.

Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the construction work. He laid the foundation stone for the construction of the new corridor by pressing the ceremonial button.

With the new construction, Central Secretariat Metro Station will become a major and unique "triple interchange" station on the Delhi Metro network.

Currently, only the Yellow Line and Violet Line intersect at the Central Secretariat, but with this extension, the new Magenta Line will also be connected, providing seamless travel and interchange.

This facility will prove to be extremely helpful for thousands of commuters, especially central government employees, commuting between Lutyens' Zone and the surrounding administrative districts.

Shivaji Stadium to Bharat Mandapam

According to the project, the entire corridor will have a total length of 9.913 kilometres. It will be a completely underground corridor, with a total of nine underground stations.

These stations include Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugin Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhavan, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha.

With the addition of these stations, many of Delhi's historical and administrative centres will be directly connected to the metro network.

Upon completion, access to the country's key government offices, judicial institutions, national monuments, and international convention centres (such as the Bharat Mandapam) will become much more accessible and efficient.

This initiative by the DMRC will not only improve Delhi's urban mobility but also enhance the capacity of the entire network, making travel comfortable for millions of commuters.
