Delhi-NCR Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for moderate to heavy rain in Delhi and nearby cities on Thursday. The weather department stated that along with rain, the residents of the capital city are also set to witness gusty winds and lightning. It further stated that the similar weather condition is likely at least till August 4.
Rain Likely Till Aug 4
While providing details, the weather department stated that similar weather conditions are likely in other nearby cities, including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. The continuous rain is likely to provide relief from heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, the heavy rainfall may also cause waterlogging in several regions, leading to inconveniences to the commuters.
Earlier on Wednesday, the city did not receive significant rain despite the presence of clouds throughout the day. While some of the regions witnessed light rain and a gentle breeze, the weather remained dry in most of the regions of Delhi. The maximum temperature, due to the absence of rain, activities increased by five degrees on Wednesday, leading to inconveniences.
Temp Surged On Wednesday
The maximum temperature in Delhi was calculated at 34.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, 0.7 degrees below normal. Earlier on Tuesday, the maximum temperature in the national capital was calculated at 29 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.7 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees below normal. Apart from this, the humidity level ranged between 100 and 67 per cent.
Heavy Rain Likely Till Aug 4
The weather department stated that drizzle was witnessed at Lodhi Road while 0.7 mm rainfall was recorded at Rajghat and 0.5 mm at Najafgarh on Wednesday. However, it further stated that several regions are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.
The IMD has advised the residents to stay updated and limit their outings during rain to avoid inconveniences.
