Delhi-NCR Weather Update: The weather in Delhi-NCR is about to change again. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in Delhi and surrounding areas on June 25. Along with Delhi, a heavy rain alert has been issued for 11 states across the country.

According to IMD, the weather is expected to remain unstable across the NCR region, including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad. Light to moderate rain and strong winds are expected in many areas.

Red Alert Was Issued A Few Days Ago

Delhi-NCR has been experiencing a series of extreme weather events over the past few days. Recently, the IMD issued a red alert after a dust storm and heavy rain lashed the capital.

On Tuesday, winds of up to 91 kilometre per hour were recorded in the Palam area. Following the strong storm and rain, temperatures dropped by about 15 degrees Celsius, bringing relief from the scorching heat.

No Heatwave Alert At Present

As per IMD, heatwave conditions are not currently expected in Delhi-NCR. However, people have been advised to remain vigilant due to the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. People have been advised to avoid open spaces, standing near trees, and power poles.

According to weather experts, the active weather system in North India and the advancing southwest monsoon are having an impact on the weather in Delhi-NCR. The monsoon has increased in intensity in many parts of the country, and its effects are being felt in Delhi’s weather.

While temperatures are expected to drop and humidity will ease, strong winds, lightning, and sudden downpours could disrupt traffic.

IMD Rain Alerts

According to IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are likely in several states, including Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh at least till June 25.

Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Wednesday. The weather department stated that heavy rainfall is also expected in Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, central Maharashtra, Goa, Odisha, Telangana, Kerala, and several northeastern states.
