Israeli Embassy Security Review: The Delhi Police has reviewed the security of the Israeli Embassy and Chabad House following alerts from intelligence agencies in the wake of the July 31 assassination of Hamas top boss Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, PTI reported on Saturday. According to sources cited by the news agency, the beefing up of security for the two Israeli building was discussed in a meeting of senior Delhi Police officials.
A multi-layered security arrangement has already been introduced, with several CCTV cameras installed around the two buildings, a senior officer said. If the need arises, more security personnel will also be deployed, the officer added. On Thursday, the Delhi Police had to issue a clarification after an "explosions" hoax in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The police said it was a fake alert. The post was also deleted later. In the past three years, two low intensity explosions have taken place in the vicinity of the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi. However, none of the attacks caused any casualties. Security around the mission's building was heightened following the outbreak of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas last year.

IRAN-ISRAEL CONFLICT: TENSIONS HIGH IN MIDDLE EAST
The recent killing of Ismail Haniyeh, who was considered the overall leader of Hamas, has escalated tensions in the Middle East. Iran has vowed retaliation against Israel, whom it holds responsible for Haniyeh's assassination, which took place on Wednesday. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has pronounced that it is Tehran's "duty to take revenge" from the "criminal, terrorist Zionist regime", which he claimed "martyred" a "dear guest" on Iranian territory.
