Delhi Schools Bomb Threat: At least three schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, prompting authorities to launch search operations, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said.
One of the schools that received a bomb threat was BT Tamil School, in central Delhi's Jhandewalan. The DFS revealed the threat at around 9:12 am, as authorities have launched thorough inspections following receipt of alerts.
In a message to parents, another school said, "Dear Parents, this morning the school received a security threat. As a precautionary measure, the police are in school for necessary security measures. All students have been evacuated safely. Once the school is declared safe, classes will be resumed".
Taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of students and staff, the authorities evacuated the premises and launched an extensive search operation.
Authorities are yet to clear whether the email threat follows a similar pattern of the recent wave of hoax threat emails targeting schools across the region earlier this week.
The incident comes only days after at least 13 Delhi schools received bomb threat emails on Monday. A senior police official had said the messages were sent from a username 'zachary jenkins' and contained a statement claiming, 'Delhi will become Khalistan in the memory of Afzal Guru.' The email was reportedly signed by a group calling itself the 'Khalistan National Army'. The email also included a warning of a potential attack on Parliament later in the week.
