Jagran Correspondent, East Delhi: In a major update for the commuters, the Delhi traffic police on Tuesday stated that the residents may face traffic congestion on Wazirabad Road in the coming months. The road will remain blocked, especially in the morning and evening hours, due to the construction of a double-decker flyover at the Bhajanpura Metro Station. The commuters have been advised to follow the guidelines and avoid travelling on this road to avoid the rush.
Delhi Traffic Police Issue Advisory
As per the traffic police, construction work is underway on both sides of the road from Bhajanpura Metro Station to Brijpuri Cut. Apart from this, works are also underway between Brijpuri Cut and Bhajanpura Metro Station, severely affecting the vehicular movement. The authority stated that lane restrictions will be in effect due to the construction, adding that the arrangement will remain in effect until December 2026.
The traffic police have urged the commuters to use the Shastri Park–Seelampur–Gokulpuri route to avoid the rush. Apart from this, drivers have been advised to follow the instructions of traffic police officers and traffic signals. They have also been advised to maintain lane discipline and avoid parking near construction sites to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Residents Advised To Take Alternative Route
The authority has also advised the commuters to drive cautiously and adhere to the posted speed limits. It further stated that the residents should plan their travel beforehand, as delays are possible on this route due to the construction activities. The daily commuters have also been advised to maximise the use of public transportation to cut the travel time and avoid the traffic rush.
Apart from this, key route diversions have been announced on several roads near Mundka. Due to ongoing PWD sewer/drainage construction work near Mundka Crossing, traffic diversions will remain in place for 10 days with effect from June 28, 2026. Commuters are advised to avoid the affected stretch and plan their journeys in advance to minimise delays.
