Delhi Weather: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is no possibility of heatwave for the coming week. The weather body has also issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm, rain and squall for June 2 and 3. The wind speed is likely to touch 40 to 60 kmph. For the week, the maximum temperature will remain below 40 degrees and the minimum below 28 degrees. The national capital on Sunday witnessed a spell of rain, accompanied by strong winds over southern parts of Delhi.The rains are due to an east-southeastward-moving cloud cluster, according to the Meteorological Department.
The IMD has issued warnings on the nowcast for at least eight districts, including South, South East, New Delhi, East, Central, Sahadara, North East. The Met Department has said that the winds could reach up to 80 kmph too. Meanwhile, South West, West and North West Districts have been issued an advisory to watch out for light rains, thunderstorms and lightning.
During the storm and rain on Sunday, the temperature of the capital fell by up to 14 degrees. According to the Meteorological Department, this sudden change in the weather was due to many factors. A cyclonic circulation was formed at a lower level over northern Pakistan and Haryana. This activated the western disturbance. This was aided by th flow of moisture from the Arabian Sea along with other weather conditions.
On Sunday, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 27.2 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature was 37.9 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees below normal. The humidity level in the air was recorded from 98 to 45 per cent. As far as rain is concerned, 16.8 mm of rain was recorded till 8:30 pm.
