Devender Singh Rana Funeral: The last rites of Devender Singh Rana, the sitting Jammu and Kashmir BJP MLA who passed away Thursday, was held in Jammu on Friday. Devender Rana was the MLA of J-K's Nagrota Assembly constituency. He was 59 years old. J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, J-K BJP chief Ravinder Raina and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat were among the attendees at Rana's funeral.
Condoling Devender Rana's demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had posted on X: "Shri Devender Singh Rana Ji's untimely demise is shocking. He was a veteran leader, who worked diligently towards Jammu and Kashmir's progress. He had just won the Assembly polls and had also played a noteworthy role in making the BJP stronger in J-K. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti."

Devender Rana was one of the key candidates in the recently held Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He emerged victorious from Nagrota by defeating his rival candidates, including National Conference's (NC's) Joginder Singh. The senior BJP leader passed away after a brief illness. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Haryana's Faridabad.

- Businessman-turned-politician Devender Singh Rana was the younger brother of Union Minister and BJP leader Jitendra Singh.
- He was once a close confidante of Omar Abdullah.
- Rana is survived by his wife, Gunjan Rana, daughters Devyani and Ketki, and son Adhiraj.
