Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi | A new video has surfaced, showing CJP spokespersons Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka and Delhi Police officials interacting amid increasing crowd. The video said to be shot a day before the violence at Jantar Mantar on July 20.

In the video, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner Deepak Purohit and New Delhi District DCP Sachin Sharma are seen speaking to two CJP workers. At that time, the crowd at the protest site was steadily increasing.

What Is Your Plan, Ask Police

In the video, the two senior police officers are seen asking CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das, "What is your plan? How will you organise this (crowd)? We will have to organize it. We will have to organise it at any cost," he said.

Expressing concern over the growing crowd, the officers told them, "Who will talk to this crowd? I've been calling and trying to talk to them for a long time."

"You tell me the names of the volunteers," the official asked. However, instead of giving a clear answer to these police questions, both CJP workers appeared to evade the police's questions.

Police Had Issued A Warning

According to a police officer, since July 16, police officers had been repeatedly visiting Jantar Mantar and urging the organisers to obtain written permission. The police had requested information about the routes planned for the Parliament march and had repeatedly stopped them from proceeding towards Parliament. Despite this, the organisers ignored the police warnings and persisted to hold march without written permission.

Due to the non-cooperation and violation of rules, the police registered seven DD entries at the Parliament Street police station.

Violence Erupts Despite Security Measures

On July 20, during the monsoon session of Parliament, Section 163 (formerly Section 144) was imposed in Jantar Mantar and the surrounding area. As part of the strict security measures, the entire area was divided into 15 zones, each commanded by a DCP-level officer. Despite this, a large number of protesters advanced towards Parliament, triggering violence.

Conspiracy Or Spontaneous Anger? Police Investigating On

The biggest question is whether the violence was the result of the protesters' spontaneous anger or was there a deeply planned conspiracy behind it? Around 70 people detained on July 20 were released after preliminary questioning. Currently, no new arrests have been made in this case. Special teams of Delhi Police are now conducting a thorough investigation of CCTV footage, mobile data, CDRs and internet media activities to piece together the entire chain of the July 20 violence.
