Diet Coke, one of the most lovable drinks among many, has been the star performer in many online posts and reels lately amid a nationwide shortage. With many struggling to deal with the summer without their favourite fizzy drink, a restaurant in Delhi has planned to turn the crisis into a themed event for Diet Coke fans.

Red, a pan-Asian restaurant in Basant Lok Market, Vasant Vihar, has planned a Diet Coke party to celebrate the drink and the community around it on Sunday, April 26. The event is set to start at around 5 pm.

According to a report, the party offers a DJ with appetisers and Diet Coke throughout the 5-hour-long event. Sharing about the event on social media platforms, the restaurant said, “Goooood music, goooood food, maybe some spicy cocktails, a DIY Diet Coke station for all your twisted recipes and of course, a lot of crispy DC waiting for you - do we need to convince you more?”

The event offers a DIY Diet Coke station for fans to experience various recipes and twists. The ticket for the event costs around 1179, with the tickets available on Zomato’s district. With the event themed around Diet Coke, the restaurant suggested that guests wear outfits inspired by the ‘iconic drink’ in red and silver.

Why the Crisis?

The ‘fizzy drink’ faces a crisis due to increased aluminium prices of about 14-15 per cent in recent days, touching about USD 3,672 (approx Rs 3.45 lakh) per tonne amid the West Asia crisis and supply disruptions. 

On its global FAQ page, Coca-Cola notes, “An increased demand for products consumed at home and shortages of aluminium and certain ingredients have impacted our supply chain in some places.”
