The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted the flight test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha, a statement issued on Monday read.

All its planned objectives were met, and the test data obtained through various tracking instruments from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur showed a success in the missile's operation.

“Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) was successfully flight tested from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on 15th June 2026,” DRDO said in a X post.

Fully Indigenous Missile System

The LRLACM system is a totally indigenous Missile System which was designed and developed through DRDO laboratories and in collaboration with Indian industries.

The program, headed by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bangalore, the nodal lab of the program, was attended by a host of DRDO and by the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force.

Congratulating the DRDO team and the associated partners on the successful flight test, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the test is a major milestone for India’s Indigenous defense capabilities.

At the same time, Defence Secretary and Chairman DRDO Rajesh Kumar Singh supervised the entire test and complimented scientists, engineers and industry for the success of the mission.

The test represents another feat for India in enhancing its homegrown missile technology capability.
