Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested a man in Mahoba district for allegedly killing his pregnant wife with a sharp-edged weapon while in an inebriated condition. According to the information, the accused, identified as Hanif, was arrested after the investigations got suspicious over his changing accounts of what happened to his wife.

While speaking about the case, Kulpahar CO Aniruddh Singh told the news agency that Hanif called the police at around 11:30 PM on Saturday and informed them about his 27-year-old wife, Manisha Mansoori's death.

CO Singh said that the body had injury marks on the head and neck, caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Upon questioning, Hanif continued to change his statement about what led to her death.

His contradictory statements landed him on the suspect list. The police got a breakthrough after the couple's five-year-old son told the police that his father attacked his mother several times while being in an intoxicated condition.
