In a major development in the Dwarka car accident case, a new video has surfaced showing the teenage driver of the Scorpio SUV allegedly speeding to film a social media reel when he rammed into 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra. The footage, now widely circulating online, purportedly shows the 17-year-old driving on the wrong side of the road at high speed moments before the collision.
Mother Claims Reels Behind the Accident
The victim’s mother has claimed that making reels was the reason behind the accident. Speaking after her son’s death, the grieving mother said, “I always wanted my son not to live in this country. Seeing the conditions here, I used to tell him to leave, but now my child is gone.”
“My son was going to the office on February 3. The Scorpio driver, along with his sister, had taken the vehicle out to make fun reels. The high speed at which the Scorpio was being driven is clearly visible in the reel. He was driving in the opposite lane, came right in front of a bus, and performed a stunt,” she told news agency ANI.
What the Video Shows
The video purportedly captures the teenage driver speeding the Scorpio on a road without a divider on the same day Sahil was run over. In the footage, the SUV is seen moving at high speed and narrowly missing a bus. A girl, said to be the minor’s sister, is seated in the passenger seat and appears to be filming the reel while holding a purse.
However, the video does not clearly establish the exact speed of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
What Was The Case
1. A 23-year-old man, Sahil Dhaneshra, died in a road accident in Delhi on February 3 after an SUV, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy, hit his motorcycle and then crashed into a parked car.
2. The accident occurred around 11:57 am near Lal Bahadur Shastri College under the jurisdiction of Dwarka South police station.
3. When police reached the spot, they found a pile-up involving the Scorpio SUV, a Swift Dzire taxi, and Sahil’s motorcycle. Sahil was declared dead at the scene.
4. The Dzire taxi driver, Ajit Singh, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment, while the juvenile driver has been granted interim bail by the Juvenile Justice Board in view of his Class 10 board examinations.
