A total of 93 counting centres have been established across 90 assembly constituencies in 22 districts of Haryana. Since the Lok Sabha polls, these elections marked the first direct contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.

The main contenders in the election are the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the INLD-BSP alliance, and the JJP-Azad Samaj Party alliance. However, most seats are expected to witness a direct fight between the BJP and the Congress.

The 90-member assembly election in J-K was held in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1. Major political players include the National Conference-Congress alliance, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Voter turnout was recorded at 63.45 per cent.
