In a troubling case from Ahmedabad, a 21-year-old woman has accused her husband and in-laws of harassment, emotional abuse, and controlling her daily life. The woman, who lives in Juhapura, Gujarat, married her husband in Saudi Arabia in May 2023. According to a complaint filed with the Vejalpur police, her problems began soon after the wedding when she moved to Bapunagar, where her in-laws reside, as reported by News18.
The woman claimed she faced harsh treatment, including being forced to wear a specific nightgown and enduring both physical and emotional abuse. Her husband, a doctor, allegedly developed a drinking problem and frequently insulted her. When she turned to her in-laws for support, they allegedly sided with their son and began mistreating her as well.
One of the most shocking allegations in her complaint is that her husband controlled every aspect of her life, including when she could sleep. She claimed he would not allow her to rest until she massaged his legs. She also reported being pressured to wear the same nightgown at all times while at home, and any refusal led to verbal and physical abuse.

Allegations of Extreme Control and Abuse
The woman further alleged that her brother-in-law and his wife contributed to her distress by constantly criticising her and influencing her husband to treat her poorly. This added to the tension and worsened her living conditions.
The situation reportedly escalated in May 2024 during a family trip to Kashmir. After returning from the vacation, the woman decided to leave her husband and returned to her parents' home, stating she could no longer tolerate the abuse. Attempts to reconcile the couple were unsuccessful, as her husband reportedly refused to cooperate or make any compromises.
With no other option left, the woman approached the police and filed a formal complaint against her husband and in-laws. The Vejalpur police have launched an investigation into the matter to verify her claims and take appropriate action.
